This is something I found on reddit and I didn’t realize how important it is…
Most of the players who are playing for a while should know what it is and how it works but still in simplest words it would be-
-
No Aim assist
-
Aim assist
-
Aim assist (but better i guess)
It is not a playing style, different weapons require different TAS. For example weapons which deal AOE (Area Of Effect) damage like missiles and disc launchers pairs perfect with number 1 no aim assist. For snipers and other straight shooting weapons you should use number 3. And from my personal experience the number 2 aim assist go great with barrage weapons. You can look up on youtube, every Mech Arena Youtuber changes TAS before or after spawing a mech according to the weapon.
My point is that it is a crucial game mechanic and its a shame we have to go to settings and change it like this everytime, i think there should be a option where we could choose TAS for a mech slot and it stays like that, like how we press V to link both our weapons and it stays same for that mech slot. Doesnt matter you change mech or weapon the weapons stay linked or unlinked, just like that we should be able to select a TAS and it should stay like that no more fiddling through settings everytime you change a mech or get into a match.
Back to sweet pea… I started down this road after watching a youtuber target enemies with Storm Rack in a certain way. Here is something else from reddit about how to do that better…
Dont aim for the mechs, aim for the floor. It has a decent splash radius and you can even get flanking damage if you aim for the floor behind them - but in the beginning you might just want to aim for the "feet" of your opposition mechs.
Aim on the ground in front of the Mech, or to the walls next to a Mech, or behind the Mech. Most damage accrues from Splash Damage.
Hope this helps. If it’s common knowledge then I guess I’m slow, I didn’t realize how relevant TAS and understanding how to use Storm Rack were.
TAS stands for Targeting Assist System and can be found in the controls tab when viewing your profile and other menu options.
